In today's guided meditation, Epictetus warns us that when we really want something badly enough, we are sometimes willing to 'sell ourself cheaply'; we lower our standards, and we forget about our deepest values like honour, virtue, justice etc.
This can lead you down a very 'slippery slope', becoming the type of person that you despise. This will cause you 'dis-ease', and can lead to demotivation and depression. Guess what? You don't have to do that ! Focusing on maintaining your high values and being true to yourself is the path to fulfilment. So after today's guided meditation, you will base your decisions on your highest ethos knowing that in the middle and long-term, you will get much better results in your life. Just sit back, relax and know that true happiness cannot rest on a lie, but only on Truth and Virtue, as Socrates would say.
