greek philosophy / stoicism transformed my life (Interview with meredith kunz, silicon valley stoic)
Interview by Meredith, Kunz, a prominent blogger on Stoicism, from Silicon Valley.
Her writing has been published in Newsweek, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Industry Standard, California Lawyer, Stanford Business, Stanford Report, Stanford Benefactor, Biomedical Computation Review, San Francisco Daily Journal, Artweek, and more. She earned my undergraduate degree at Harvard and her master's at Stanford.
In this interview, I answer some questions regarding how Stoicism entered my life from a young age,
due to my father.
He was born in a mountain village of Sparta, which was burned by the Nazis in WWII, and joined the resistance at age fifteen. In the late 60's he was sent to a concentration camp for fighting against the Greek Military Junta in 1967, and later got political asylum in Canada.
He introduced me to Greek philosophers like Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, but more importantly, his way of raising my sister and me i.e. the values he instilled in us, led to mental resilience and self-discipline.
